JASON SMYTH – ROCKHAMPTON’S BUSINESS LENDING AND EQUIPMENT FINANCE SPECIALIST

Jason grew up in a small country town called Mundubbera before moving to Rockhampton to complete year 11 and 12 at the Rockhampton Grammar School. From there he attended Central Qld University where in 1993 he gained his Bachelor of Business with a Major in Marketing.

Jason’s first job was as a bank teller and customer service representative with Suncorp Building Society. He quickly moved into a commercial lending role with Suncorp Finance Ltd where his innate understanding of the business sector led him to a career in commercial real estate lending and equipment finance.

After nearly 5 years there he moved to the Capricornia Credit Union, before taking a position with Sanwa Finance.

It was at Sanwa that Jason developed his passion for business lending and equipment finance and in a short time was one of the most productive business and equipment finance writers in the company. In the 10 years that Jason was with Sanwa, he witnessed a name change to UFJ Finance and also its subsequent sale to the Bank of Queensland. Throughout, Jason maintained the same service levels and strong customer focus that made him successful.

“Business lending and equipment finance are specialised areas. I understand the needs of those in business and I pride myself on the fact that some of my very first clients at Sanwa are still with me today” , says Jason.

After 10 years Jason felt it was time to move on and experience a different banking environment. A new challenge beckoned with a role as Asset Finance Specialist with Esanda within the ANZ banking framework. However, this took him into management and away from direct contact with customers. Within a few months Jason had left the company and in December 2007 had branched out on his own as a Finance Broker.

In 2010 Jason joined forces with the team at ALS and together they opened Austral Lending Solutions Rockhampton where he caters to the finance and lending needs of his many clients.
